Mario is my favorite franchise but while Mario is the best hero (He's defeated so many villains throughout the span of his entire franchise) or at least in MY opinion I wouldn't say he's the best character. - HeavyDonkeyKong

I don't think "he's defeated so many villains throughout the span of his entire franchise" is a major point in his favor, considering the sheer number of Mario games combined with the fact that Nintendo would never make a Mario game where the villain wins. Heck, you might even count this AGAINST him - he's rescued that stupid Peach so many times, and he still hasn't figured out that he maybe should take some measures to protect her before she's kidnapped? - Treacle

Mario is just some weird fat dude who jumps around and saves princesses. I don't hate him, it's just that he has no personality but everyone loves him for some reason. Super overrated. But the games are fun
